My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Alfie. I'm a handsome 35 pound Sussex Spaniel mix. I'm approximately 10 years old and boy do I have a story for you! When I was just a pup, I was adopted from an Austin shelter. I lived with that family my whole life until they had to move. They left me with a family member who didn't really take care of me so I got all matted up and dirty. I ended up being picked up by the nice folks at the Lockhart Animal Shelter. They took my picture and put me on Facebook to try to find someone to help me. You see, even though my previous family didn't hurt me, they didn't really provide for me medically so I got these mean things called heartworms (don't worry - they're not contagious and they are treatable).

Luckily, with the help of lots of nice people, my foster mom saw me and I worked my charm! I've been with her for about 2 weeks now. She says I'm a perfect little gentleman! I'm housetrained, playful, and love to go for walks and car rides. I also love to be groomed and will follow you throughout the house as you do chores because my favorite thing is to be with people. I get along great with my 2 fur-siblings and I respect those grumpy cats too. I don't really know any tricks but my foster mom thinks I'm smart enough to learn so we're working on it. I am friendly with new people, kids, and new pets too. You might think that 10 years sounds too old, but let me set the record straight: I'm active, agile, and can still hang with the best of them! The nice part is, you don't have to worry about all the crazy puppy destructiveness and training requirements.

While I get my heartworms treated, I'll be crashing on my foster mom's cozy couch but I'd really love to have a FURever home. I'd fit in great with just about any type of family. Wanna meet me and see just what a PAW-some dog I am? Contact Cocker Rescue today! I can't wait to meet you.
