There's not much to not love about this sweet and gentle boy! Max is a doll who likes to rub up against you for petting and purrs up a storm. He's also a lap cat afficianado! When we initially met him at the shelter back in January, he immediately started rolling over on our hands for more affection - how could we say no? Once brought in to the shelter as a stray, we brought him and his housemate to Kitty Corner, where each was rapidly adopted. Unfortunately due to downsizing and cat-cat dynamics in the household, Max was recently brought back by his heartbroken adopter, who reiterated to us that he's the most amazing cat and in her opinion, the best cat she's ever had. Max is estimated to be almost 2 years of age and is neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. He's very loving and affectionate and will make an easy friend for any cat-loving household. He does well with other cats and would do fine with another confident playmate or a cat-friendly dog (given the appropriate adjustment period, of course). Max is hands-down one of the most wonderful cats you'll ever meet - he is truly the perfect companion! Location: Kitty Corner

About Contra Costa Humane Society

About Our Rescue Group...

Contra Costa Humane Society is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that operates such programs as Adoptions, Kitty Corner, Spay/Neuter Assistance, and AniMeals. We are not affiliated with any other rescue organization, humane society or spca.

Our mission is to empower our community to improve the quality of life for animals and decrease euthanasia rates. Through our programs and services, we connect with individuals and private and public organizations to adopt pets, reduce the number of unwanted animals, and educate the public to foster compassion, responsibility and respect towards animals.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our business office and Kitty Corner are located at 171 Mayhew Way, Suite 101 in Pleasant Hill, CA 94523.

Kitty Corner houses adult, senior, and special-needs cats (sometimes teenage kittens). Kitty Corner is open for adoptions on Saturday, Sunday & Monday from 12-3pm or during the week (preferably by appointment to make sure someone's available to show you the cats).

All of our dogs, puppies and kittens are located off-site in foster homes and can be met by appointment once adoption applications have been received and approved.

Our Adoption Process...

CCHS has animals available for adoption through a number of different avenues. Many of our kittens and all dogs are cared for in loving foster homes until they are adopted. Teenage, adult, senior and special-needs cats reside at Kitty Corner, an on-site, private cat shelter where cats are allowed to free-roam at all times, lounge in sunny windows and on comfy cat towers, and play to their heart's galore. Similarly, we also have animals available for adoption through our Re-Homing Assistance Program, where we help to advertise animals that caregivers are no longer able to keep.

If you are interested in meeting any of the animals listed on our website, please complete an adoption application unless otherwise noted!
