Max's Story...
Max is a four-month-old tiger with white chest kitten who came into our shelter with a badly broken leg. It had started to partially heal, thrusting the foot to an awkward angle. After being seen by a specialist, it was determined that the only way to relieve Max's pain was to amputate his leg. Max came to us from a home that could not economically support or provide the care-giving necessary for the surgery Max desperately needed. As Max started to heal and learned to negotiate with his three remaining legs, we could see his personality emerging. Life with the pain from his leg gone, Max turned into the playful, affectionate kitten he hadn’t had the opportunity to be. He’s very gentle and affectionate, and, well, he’s cute! When you see him tilt his little head in curiosity and look up at you, you just want to scoop him up and love him. He has no objection to that! And Max loves the companionship of other feline friends, and gets along well with them. We’d love to see him find his forever home, one that will treasure and cherish him for the rest of his days. Maybe that’s you!
At PAAWS RI, all of the cats that come into our care are spayed/neutered, receive a rabies vaccination, distemper vaccinations, de-worming, flea treatment, microchipping, and testing for Feline Leukemia/FIV.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Max, a Warwick Domestic Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Warwick, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair kitten from a breeder in Warwick.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Warwick already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Warwick breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Warwick paves the way for another one to be saved.
