My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

An adoption application on AUSTIN can be found at the following link: http://wp.me/P73YMd-1h
Please email the completed application to weatherley.woofriver@gmail.com.
Please submit an application and do not also contact the shelter. You will be contacting both the adoption coordinator and the marketing director, who do not see each other's emails. This causes confusion.

ADORABLE AFFECTIONATE APPRECIATIVE, AUSTIN is all of these A adjectives and more!

AMIABLE: AUSTIN has been perfection with every single human, dog, and kitty cat he's met.
APPROACHABLE: All who meet him immediately feel at ease in his presence. There is nothing intimidating about this gentle soul.
ADVENTUROUS: Though snuggling and getting love are Austin's favorite things, he and his foster brother Carter to like to embark on little adventures together.
ATTRACTIVE: He has the most beautiful greenish eyes, though it is hard to see in his photos.
AGILE: He is surprisingly athletic though he is a laid back boy. He is the equivalent of the quiet normal looking kid who blows everyone on the football field.
AMUSING: Watching AUSTIN experience his "firsts" such as first time on hard wood, first time watching tv, first time to climb in a kind human's lap, etc.. is both amusing and heartwarming.
ADEPT and ATTENTIVE: His desire to please coupled with his ability to pick up on things quickly make him an incredible family pup. We think he is a therapy dog candidate.
ACCOMMODATING: AUSTIN is content with whatever situation makes those around him most comfortable. This applies to both the people and the resident pup in his foster home.
ADMIRABLE: This boy has been kind and trusting from the first moment. He just wants to fit in and make everybody happy. He soaks up the smallest gesture. He gets joy from laying in the sun or on a dog bed. He is in heaven with children climbing on him like a jungle gym. We provided no initial training to make him such a wonderful dog, yet he is.

AUSTIN is 18 months old and while his breed and body type give him the natural endurance to be a wonderful hiking or jogging buddy, he is not a hyper dog. He is a cuddly, happy, loyal dog who will be a great addition to any family or devoted sidekick for a single person. AUSTIN's forever family is going to be tremendously lucky to call this gentle soul their own.

AUSTIN is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccinations.
His $450 includes interstate health certificate and transport to the Midwest.

An adoption application for AUSTIN can be found at the following link: http://wp.me/P73YMd-1h
Please email the completed application to weatherley.woofriver@gmail.com. It typically takes us around 5 BUSINESS DAYS to process an application. We will reach out to you as soon as your application is processed.

All of our dogs start their journey in Memphis, Tennessee where they remain in loving foster families until they are adopted. Once adopted, they travel via one of our transport partners to their new forever homes. We use Alpha Dog Pet Transport for our New England, Nashville, and Knoxville adoptions (https://alphadogtransport.com) and The Road Home Pet Transport for our Midwest adopters (https://www.facebook.com/roadhomepettransport).

Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well-educated decision from well qualified staff.

Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries we receive, we ask that you request, complete, and submit an application before asking additional questions. We try very hard to include all pertinent information in our bios. We are excited to help you find your new family member. However, Woof River is 100% volunteer operated. We want to spend our time saving dogs and assisting those adopters who have taken the time to complete an application. Thank you for understanding.
