Cali's Story...
THIS IS A COURTESY LISTING. ADR is not responsible for the health, temperament, behavior or placement of this dog. Listings are done at the request of the dog's owner and as an outreach and community service in hopes of finding these dogs a loving, stable forever home. Placement decisions are made solely at the discretion of the owner, and not Austin Dog Rescue. Owners are required to ask for an adoption fee from adopters.

This is the information that we received from Cali's current family:

Cali is a 4-year-old Mini Aussie who is so loving and cuddly, but we feel that she may have been abused in her last home. She tends to become submissive and have accidents around men. My boyfriend and I love her dearly, and have had professional help, but nothing has changed. We've worked with her for 6 months, and at this point, feel she needs to be in a household with only women. She loves children, and is a very affectionate dog once she warms up to you.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Cali, a Austin Australian Shepherd dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Australian Shepherd for sale in Austin, or seeking a Australian Shepherd dog from a breeder in Austin.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Austin already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Austin breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Australian Shepherd breeders who help with Australian Shepherd rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Austin paves the way for another one to be saved.
