Couch has a set of teeth that not even an orthodontist could fix, an extra roly poly neck, a crinkled tail, droopy eyes and a tongue that never stays in one place. What's not to love? Our 3 year old Boxer/Bulldog mix became an official member of the OMD pack after we had the honor of scooping him up from a high kill shelter, where we found him emaciated and covered in cigarette burns. True to his name, he has been couch surfing (and thriving) in our awesome foster homes ever since. In addition to stretching out on the sofa for naps, he also loves snuggles with his foster dad, belly rubs (these are mandatory and he will paw you if you stop), toys, treat time and romping around the yard. So the romp is more of a Boxer wiggle with the Bulldog endurance but that's fine -- this boy is just way more into lounging than exercise! Our clumsy lug of a guy has done well with the dogs and we think he would do just fine with children but at 78 pounds, savvy, sturdy kiddos only please! Unfortunately, when we rescued Couch we learned that he is heartworm positive. Thankfully, his heartworm was detected early and he has a fantastic prognosis with a full life ahead of him. We have already started his treatment and we will be covering the cost so he can join his forever home at any time! Couch is housebroken, crated trained, neutered, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. Interested in a life of snuggling with this snaggle tooth? Fill out an application at omdrescue.org.

About One More Dog Rescue (formerly RSHT)

About Our Rescue Group...

One More Dog Rescue, formerly Ruff Start Happy Tails, believes that animals deserve our love, compassion, and respect. Our purpose is to rescue dogs and to provide care for orphaned, stray, and abused dogs. Through rehabilitation, socialization, and adoption, we strive to provide a humane service to all dogs that come into our rescue. Additionally, we provide awareness about the prevention of animal abuse and neglect as well as spay/neuter programs and their important effect on the dog overpopulation crisis.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We are a Connecticut-based 501c3 dog rescue that will adopt to approved applicants in the surrounding areas.
We do not have a facility - All of our rescue dogs are in loving foster homes.

Our Adoption Process...

One More Dog Rescue (OMD), formerly Ruff Start Happy Tails, requires all potential adopters to fill out an adoption application and agree to a home visit prior to any adoption. Once the application is approved, a meet and greet will be scheduled between the potential adopter (s) and the dog. If the dog is adopted through One More Dog, an adoption contract must be signed, and we ask that a donation in the amount of $350.00 be made at the time of adoption to help our rescue cover a portion of the costs we incur through pull fees, vetting, and training.
