My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Macy is a 1yr old, 30lb, ADORABLE Terrier mix saved from a rural Louisiana shelter! She is as sweet as they come and tested well in the shelter with both male and female dogs. Macy will arrive to Maryland on Decemeber 18th and be ready to find her furever family in time for Christmas!! She did test low heartworm positive (non-symptomatic) and has begun treatment following the American Heartworm Society's protocol. Macy is currently undergoing heartworm treatment and began Doxycycline on December 1st. When her injection treatments begin around February 1st she will need to be on restricted activity to maintain a low to moderate heartrate to avoid possible complications. Macy can be adopted locally before her heartworm treatment is complete and Pugh Zoo will pay for treatment and instruct on the care she will need. It is not complicated and is done all over the country with other dogs every day although it could all be avoided if people would give heartworm prevention to their dogs monthly. Macy is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines with an adoption fee of $325. If you are interested in meeting Macy please begin by filling out an application found on our website,  www.pughzoorescue.org .
