Terrance is about 8 years old. He came to the shelter with an injured paw. It was explained by the VCAS vet office as an old injury and he has some nerve damage in that foot. He hops on three legs or uses his upper leg to walk on his injured paw. His foster mom thinks the injured paw makes his cautious behavior toward other animals and people easier to understand. He lives with other cats and a large dog in his foster home. He tolerates them all, but mostly keeps his distance and stays to himself. At first Terrance was afraid of the dog and other cats. When the other cats cuddle and wrestle with each other, Terrance watches, makes it known that he isn''t interested if they try that with him. Terrance loves to sit next to and on the lap of his foster humans. He also loves to sleep on the bed with them, or all day when they are at work. He can jump on and off the bed, the couch and go up and down stairs even with his bum leg. Terrance can be overstimulated with too much petting and would rather pick and choose when his humans pet him. He has been known to reach out and touch his foster parents when they walk by him too closely. His foster family does not have any small children but have high school and college age kids come by and Terrance has made friends with them. Terrance is about 15 pounds and is currently eating wet and dry food. He eats super quickly so his foster family spreads out his kibble on cookie sheets so he can learn to eat slowly. He loves treats but doesn''t get the as often as he would like. He is slowly learning to chase the laser toy.
