My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Introducing Katie, Madi and Gina, new arrivals at Southern California Keeshond Rescue, Inc. (SCKR) Katie, Madi and Gina are bonded eight year old Keeshond sisters who are seeking placement together. They were born and raised in a loving home, where they lived happily together until they faced a lifestyle change when their owner passed away in September 2016.

They were surrendered to Santa Maria Valley Humane Society (SMVHS), a no kill adoption center in September. Southern California Keeshond Rescue, Inc. (SCKR) welcomed the bonded trio into our rescue program on November 22, 2016.

Katie, and Madi have completed veterinary evaluation and treatments in preparation for permanent adoption. We are identifying their individual needs and we are seeking placement of Katie and Madi together.

UPDATE: Katie has been adopted (with Madi). Katie enjoys interaction with other dogs in the household. She has not lived with cats and she reacted well when introduced to cats in a meet and greet setting. Katie likes to spend time with her family and she enjoys snuggling and belly rubs. Katie is a very loving, sweet gentle soul. She is resilient, happy and smart. She is house-trained. Katie will benefit from positive reinforcement training and leash training.

UPDATE: Madi has been adopted (with Katie). Madi loves interacting with other dogs in the household. She has not lived with cats and she reacted well when introduced to cats in a meet and greet setting. An adorable girl—she is loving, sweet and gentle. Madi is easy to please. She loves to sit on the recliner or couch to relax. Madi is happy and smart. She is house-trained. Madi will benefit from positive reinforcement training and leash training. Madi has a tendency to rush through doorways so some training will be beneficial.

If you are interested in adopting Katie and Madi, bonded sisters, the first step is the completion of an adoption application. Please visit http://www.foreverkees.org for information on our adoption process..

Gina has completed extensive veterinary evaluation/treatments and continues to receive veterinary treatment for skin inflammation. She is currently prescribed Atopica to control itchy skin. Gina will not be available for adoption until her skin inflammation treatments are completed.

Please note: We follow up on our adoptions, provide our adopters with lifetime support, and take our dogs back at any time if the people are unable to care for them. This is our commitment to our dogs and our adopters. To make this level of support possible, we must place our dogs within driving distance for our volunteers in Southern California.
