My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Shiva update!

Shiva has had her tail surgery and spay and is healing up perfectly! She will be available for adoption after she has completely healed! In the meantime, please be sure to read her story below!

If you would like to contribute to Shiva's recovery, please visit: https://www.youcaring.com/evenchancepitbullrescue-696135

If you are interested in meeting Shiva, please fill out an adoption application at www.evenchance.org/adopt and we will be in touch!

The torn up face doesn't describe half of Shiva's journey although her mind and energy speak volumes! In addition to the many facial scars, 3/4 of her tail is already dead yet still attached, almost all necrotic tissue on tail except about 2-3 inches from base with bone and tendon exposed. This tail injury appears to be weeks old, possibly a month which has made her body toxic (the main reason we can't rush into surgery as her body can't act as it should on a weakened immune system). Scars and marks all over both back legs and feet. Her health is bad, she smells like death, the infection in her tail could have taken her life within days had she not been found. We don't know what happened and it doesn't matter anyways! She is safe now and on the mend, looking forward!

Even though she is in good hands, her suffering continues for a short bit. She cannot get treatment too soon as the infection is too pronounced and that has to be addressed first. So, we will help her through the next 10 days and get her back to health managing her discomfort as best possible. Then we remove her tail and get her healthy and feeling good again! The process is extensive and takes time and patience on all parties for proper rehabilitation to a happy healthy dog. Good news? We expect a 100% recovery less 3/4 of her tail. :)

Shiva - meaning Transformation - Her soul is perfect and sweet and her light shines bright so now she can begin to heal and rid of the infection that has been with her for too long.

In the realm of fighting to help and save dogs, it is So very hard to swallow the things people can be capable of while looking at animals that never had a voice and are in unnecessary pain due to a species that is so able and capable yet oblivious and blinded by our own reality. Its our choice to let what happened in the past affect us in the present, so as we learn from dogs, without knowing and understanding the trauma such animals endure, we will help as many as we can! Your support allows us to continue forward with our mission of rescuing and rehabilitating pit bulls.
