My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET our precious little 8 week old boy puppy

Our special little fella has just been rescued with his momma and two sisters. He is just 8 weeks old, 3 lbs and as precious as can be. He's so new, we haven't even had a chance to name him yet. This little man will do best in a family with a stay at home parent (work from home or retired) and older children (over age 12), who are familiar with the special needs of Dachshunds. Puppies are so wonderful and Doxie puppies are all the more fabulous, bringing endless love, laughter and many years of pure joy. If you believe this wonderful little man could complete your family, please visit www.odr-inc.org and complete the Adoption Questionnaire. Because he is so young, he can't be neutered, so his new family will need to sign a contract to have him neutered at 5.5 months old and to complete all his puppy shots when they're due. They will also need to commit to providing him with puppy training so he can achieve his full potential as a member of the family.

Like all Dachshunds, our special pup is high energy and enjoys playing and warming his little bones in the sunshine, so along with regular walks around his neighborhood, he needs a secure fenced yard to run around and explore safely. While small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don't generally do well in apartments, with all of the noises and traffic that come with multiple dwellings in a confined space. To best set up our doxies and their new families for success, ODR, Inc., adopt to families who live in single family homes with secure fenced yards.

OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 12 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.

WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:

All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $495, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give our little 8 week old boy puppy a happy, carefree life? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net. The adoption committee will attempt to be in contact with you within 48-72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
