Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Mia is a 5 year old Pug and Beagle mix. This sweet girl came into rescue from an Iowa Amish Puppy Mill. They were done breeding her and discarded her. Mia is most comfortable with other dogs since she spent her whole life surrounded by them. She is also good with cats. Because she has had very little contact with humans she takes a little time to warm up to people. It took a few days for her to go to her foster parents, now she follows her foster mom everywhere.
Mia is starting to be interested in dog toys but she hasn’t started playing with people. She will do a play bow and run in circles around you but isn’t quite sure just how to play. She would really benefit from having another dog in her home who can teach her how to play. She loves to run and chase. Because a leash is a new experience for Mia she needs a forever home with a fenced in yard.
We knew instantly there was something wrong with Mia because she was overweight and the Amish breeders are not known for feeding their dogs well. Bloodwork on Mia told us she has a low functioning thyroid. She is now on thyroid meds which cost about $8 a month and is losing weight. Mia is a typical Puggle and is food motivated. She needs a forever home that will help her by limiting her access to food and getting her the exercise she needs to achieve a healthy weight.
Mia is housetrained, up to date on vaccinations, spayed, microchipped and heartworm tested.
