Fernando's Story...
I was 8 weeks old when late at night my former care taker dropped me off at the local county park. Scared and lonely I found a hiding place and stayed their until I saw a bunch of cats beginning to gather under a light where a man was feeding. After he walked away I ran up and began to eat tiny morsels that were left by the other feral cats. Not until after several weeks of hiding from large dogs and coyotes did I began to trust the man that was bringing food every day. I started out slowly by approaching him closer and closer until one day I decided to give him my trust by rubbing on his leg. He seemed to like that and encouraged me to do it often. Eventually I was sitting on his lap and allowing him to give me hugs and kisses on the head. He then contacted St. Francis and they decided that I am so sweet that they want me to go into a forever home instead of living on the streets. I would like that too. I am communicating with my foster that I would like a home that likes black kittens that play, purr and want to be where they are. If that is you, then I am all yours.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Fernando, a Tampa Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Tampa, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Tampa.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Tampa already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Tampa breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Tampa paves the way for another one to be saved.
