Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Emmy! Emmy is a sweet, smart, and loving dog! She has a great energy and loves to play! Though she’d prefer to play with people, she also does quite well entertaining herself with Kongs and food puzzles. Intelligent and eager to learn, Emmy would excel at obedience training. She LOVES all people, she is gentle and is excellent at cuddling and giving hugs. She is a shelter favorite.
Emmy is one of those dogs that just DESERVES a wonderful, easy, safe and comfortable life after the complete opposite that she has already experienced. She was abandoned in freezing weather with her newborn litter of puppies. Despite being close to starvation and hypothermia herself, she was an amazingly loving and just plain wonderful Mom. Sadly, she was only able to keep three of her babies alive. Those three pups have all found loving homes, yet their amazing Mom still sits and waits for a home of her own.
Emmy isn't always crazy about other dogs. She is able to have supervised playtime with multiple dogs at the rescue facility, but we feel like she will do best in a one dog only home. She does great on neighborhood leash walks, but wouldn't be a good candidate for things such as a dog park.
Emmy is petite girl at only 38 pounds, and our vet says she is about 2 years old. Emmy is spayed, microchipped and up to date on her vaccines. As an added unfairness, Emmy came to us heartworm positive. Thankfully she shows no symptoms or problems, and is currently being treated with the "slow-kill" method of treatment. If necessary, we will treat her with the riskier "faster" method if needed/recommended prior to her going into a home.
If you are interested in meeting and/or adopting Emmy, we ask that you please go to our website and fill out an application. www.northmeckanimalrescue.org
Emmy's adoption fee $145 includes spay/neuter, parvo/distemper series of shots, rabies if dog is old enough, bordatello, heartworm preventative while here, worming, and microchipping.
We appreciate your patience as our volunteer-only team reviews your application and updates our website.
