My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Olaf won all of our hearts with the first video his foster mom posted of him. He was joyously rolling down hill on his back! Olaf is a dog that loves to play, loves to snuggle, and loves to be alive! We are so glad that he will get a second chance at life here in the north! Olaf is a 3 year old pitt mix, but foster mom says that he’s really a puppy at heart! Up until his arrival here in Vermont, this 65 pound bundle of canine affection hadn’t really had any formal training at all. Foster mom says that he is a quick learner, and in his short time with her he has already learned to respond to sit, down, off, and wait. He is almost house trained, and he is crate trained. He spends the night in his crate in the house, and he spends nice days in an outdoor kennel. He really enjoys being outside, but he will settle in his crate with minimal complaint. Olaf walks well with a Halti harness, and foster mom says that his adopters will probably want to continue using the Halti because Olaf gets a lot of security from it. She thinks that Olaf will make a great running and hiking buddy. He’s a medium energy boy, which means that he’s ready for adventure, but he’ll settle nicely on the sofa for a snuggle. Olaf does well with kids, but because of his affectionate personalitiy (he LOVES to sit near—on—people) he might be a lot for small children. Foster mom has been working on teaching Olaf boundaries with space, but this is something that will take some time. He’s so affectionate with his people, ane he likes to be leaning on them! Of course, that makes him incredibly cute, too! Olaf does well with other dogs, choosing to give way quickly to other dogs. He’s interacted with males and females of varying sizes, and he is friendly with all. Olaf is a friendly, playful guy, and foster mom says that he will nip and chew in play. She has been working with him to redirect his mouthy attentions, and she says that he is a fast learner. He doesn’t bite hard, and he responds well to being redirected or corrected. Olaf is not a loud fellow. He barks to announce the arrival of a person to the home, but other than that, he is quiet. Foster mom thinks that Olaf is a pretty splendid guy, and we think she’s right! He has some learning to do, but with the speed that he’s caught on at his foster home, we think he is going to be a top notch companion!
