My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello there! Thank-you for clicking on my profile, I’d love to meet you. Let me tell you a little bit about adopting me.

My name is J.J. and I am an 8 week old male Chihuahua mix who was born in my loving foster home when my momma, Josie, was found as a stray. Thankfully mom ended up in a shelter with a really nice director who contacted my foster mom and dad and asked them to help my mom. The rest is history as they say! :-)

My mom is such a sweet and loving lady, she's been a really good mom to me and has helped me to learn how to play and romp, and do my personal business on a potty pad. I like to romp and play, climb in your lap when you sit on the floor and play with me, and I like to chew as all good puppies do! My foster mom is trying to teach me to keep my puppy teeth off of fingers but they just look like the perfect chew toys!

Right now I weigh about 4lbs, my mom weighs about 8 lbs. I don't know who my daddy was so I'm not sure what I'm really mixed with breed wise. My foster dad says that doesn't matter at all - I'm 100% adorable! I have been to the doggy doctor and got a clean bill of heath. I got my first set of vaccines (ouch!) and have to go back to see the doggy doctor this week for what my mom says is a booster. Not sure what that is but I hope I get to see the nice lady doggy doctor again - she gave me num num's!

I'm ready to start looking for my fur-ever family and so is my mom Josie. I know it's going to be scary at first all by myself in a new place but I'm really hoping to find a loving family who will be home often, help me transition to a new home slowly by spending lots of time with me, and helping me to be confident without my mom by my side. Although I am social with people and dogs I know, I can be a bit shy and nervous in new situations and around new dogs - especially those that are much bigger than I am or are very energetic. I would do well with a patient and mellow doggy brother or sister in my new home as long as they were OK with a rambunctious puppy!

I know it's Christmas time and lots of people are out shopping for presents for their friends and family members. Although I am super sweet and incredibly cute, I am not a present, I'm a puppy. I am a lifetime commitment and I want a family who has done lots of research, talked about the responsibilities of a young pup like me, and everyone in the family is fully aware and committed to caring for me and loving me. I really hope you understand. :-)

My friends at NBS Animal Rescue are helping me to find the perfect fur-ever home. All of the dogs in our rescue are have different personalities and needs within an adoptive home. Not all of my friends here at NBS Animal Rescue have the same requirements, so if I’m not be the perfect fit for your family- be sure to check out my other doggy friends too! For me?

These are the things I fur-sure need in my fur-ever home!
- Family who is gone no longer than 4 hour periods of time or has a dog walker when longer than this. I have a very teeny tiny bladder and need to potty frequently.

-Children must be 12yrs or older.

- 100% fenced in yard preferred. No electric fences please.

If you think I might be the perfect addition to your family please follow these steps:

1.) Visit www.nbsar.org to fill out my adoption application. As an approved adopter, my rescue friends can set up a home visit so I can meet you. Our rescue is 100% run by volunteers, to help your application be processed as quickly as possible, please make sure to….

2.) Call your veterinarian and give them permission to release information about your current and past pet’s veterinary history.

3.) Call your references too! Let them know to expect a phone call from an unknown phone number, and a rescue team member will need to talk to them on the phone as a reference.

My adoption fee is $250.00 and includes a DHPP vaccine, bordatella vaccine, de-worming, spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccine (age appropriate), heartworm test (age appropriate), heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative, microchip insertion, bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, leash and collar and one week's worth of food. If you’d like to meet me, please apply online and to become an approved adopter!

Our adoption process requires that any pet in your household be current on vaccinations and heartworm preventative , spayed/neutered (unless a documented medical reason is on file with your veterinarian). Dogs must be current on Distemper DHPP combo vaccine and Rabies vaccine, cats must be current on Distemper and Rabies at the time of application. This also applies to any pets in your home within the past five years.

While I hope that you have fallen in love with me and are ready to apply, I understand if I might not be the perfect pup for your family just yet. However, would you please help by sharing my picture on Facebook, twitter or by email? I'm a great pup and need a loving family to give all of my love and puppy kisses to! Thank-you for your help!
