My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello there! Thank-you for clicking on my profile, I’d love to meet you. Let me tell you a little bit about adopting me.

My name is Josey and I am a 1 1/2 year old female Pomeranian / Chihuahua mix who came to the kind folks at NBS Animal Rescue when I was found as a stray and ended up in a city shelter. The kind shelter director reached out to my foster mom and asked her if I could come and stay with them until I found my fur-ever home. Little did they know that I was pregnant with my pup J.J. at the time!

For the past 8 weeks I have loved being a momma to my puppy J.J. My foster mom says that I was a really great mom and took excellent care of my puppy. While I love my puppy dearly, it's time for him to find his fur-ever home and for me to find a family to love me as well.

I am a very shy and nervous little lady in new places and around new people. I didn't have the best of lives before coming to NBS Animal Rescue so I really need a home that is patient, loving, kind, and gentle. I get scared with loud noises and fast movements, and the outside is still pretty scary to me. I'm learning how to do my personal business outside, if you go out with me and praise me when I do the right thing I catch on to new things pretty quickly. I do know how to use a potty pad in the house though if you're willing.

Because I am so shy and nervous I would really like a home without small children. Don't get me wrong - kids are great - but they tend to move quickly and make loud noises that scare me. My foster mom says that I need a calm and gentle house with low energy. I get along with most other dogs who are friendly and mellow as well. Dogs that are hyper or very in your face really scare me so I would like my future canine brothers and sisters to be mellow and allow me to get to know them slowly.

My favorite thing in the whole world is to snuggle on your lap. I love to be held and to give people I trust kisses and tail wags of happiness. Once I'm comfortable in a new environment I do like to play too! My foster mom and dad play with me and I love to scamper down the hallway after toys!

My friends at NBS Animal Rescue are helping me to find the perfect fur-ever home. All of the dogs in our rescue are have different personalities and needs within an adoptive home. Not all of my friends here at NBS Animal Rescue have the same requirements, so if I’m not be the perfect fit for your family- be sure to check out my other doggy friends too! For me?

These are the things I fur-sure need in my fur-ever home!
- Family who is gone no longer than 5 hour periods or has a detailed plan for a dog walker, etc listed on the application.

-Children must be 12 yrs or older.

- 100% fenced in yard preferred as she is not confident on a leash and is very nervous on a tie out. No electric fences please.

If you think I might be the perfect addition to your family please follow these steps:

1.) Visit www.nbsar.org to fill out my adoption application. As an approved adopter, my rescue friends can set up a home visit so I can meet you. Our rescue is 100% run by volunteers, to help your application be processed as quickly as possible, please make sure to….

2.) Call your veterinarian and give them permission to release information about your current and past pet’s veterinary history.

3.) Call your references too! Let them know to expect a phone call from an unknown phone number, and a rescue team member will need to talk to them on the phone as a reference.

My adoption fee is $250.00 and includes a DHPP vaccine, bordatella vaccine, de-worming, spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccine (age appropriate), heartworm test (age appropriate), heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative, microchip insertion, bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, leash and collar and one week's worth of food. If you’d like to meet me, please apply online and to become an approved adopter!

Our adoption process requires that any pet in your household be current on vaccinations and heartworm preventative , spayed/neutered (unless a documented medical reason is on file with your veterinarian). Dogs must be current on Distemper DHPP combo vaccine and Rabies vaccine, cats must be current on Distemper and Rabies at the time of application. This also applies to any pets in your home within the past five years.

While I hope that you have fallen in love with me and are ready to apply, I understand if I might not be the perfect pup for your family just yet. However, would you please help by sharing my picture on Facebook, twitter or by email? I'm a great pup and need a loving family to give all of my love and puppy kisses to! Thank-you for your help!
