My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is Merica (HWTH#16427A). She is a Pit mix, DOB: 7/14/14. Merica weighs approximately 75 pounds and stands 20 inches at the shoulders. She was found by Hwy 138 and Largo Vista. When rescued, her eyes were full of sand and dirt and it was apparent she had recently had pups (the pups were not with her at the time of her rescue). Merica is a high-spirited, very friendly and loving girl. She will need an active owner willing to give her the love, good-quality human companionship she craves and the exercise needed to keep her fit and out of mischief. At the moment, she is residing with a volunteer with Halfway to Home and 14 other dogs of various ages and sizes with no problems. Merica loves to play with the dogs at her foster home, so it might be a good thing to have a companion dog for her to play with in her new Forever home. She is completely house trained and knows how to use a dog door. When Merica is thoroughly settled into her new home, she will benefit from positive basic obedience training to help with leash training and the bonding process. Once Merica has bonded with her new owner (which will happen quickly as long as there is lots of love), she will be an amazing canine companion.
