Shay is a six-year-old female Beagle/Shepherd mix who came to Fuzzy Pawz when a family member developed a severe allergy to her.
This lovely 40 pound girl is an intelligent, curious, affectionate, sweet dog. She loves to go on walks and to hike off leash in the foothills. She is easy to train and eager to please. She knows her basic commands (come, sit and down) and she would be willing/able/eager to learn more. She is dependably house trained and also crate trained. She rarely barks and is a calm dog for the most part, although she has a very cute personality and can be quite energetic when appropriate.
Shay can be shy with people in general at first -- a little cautious -- but once she warms up to them, she's great. We don't know a lot about her history with children, but she has been very calm and friendly with kids whenever she has been around them. We know she is okay with a calm, dog savvy 9 year old so we will say no kids under 9.
Shay is very well socialized with other dogs and gets along with them very well. She has been boarded in the past and done great with all the other dogs. As for cats, when they come into the yard, she chases them away.
She is fearful of water (hoses, sprinklers), and we suspect she has been sprayed with a hose in the past. This fear is not as intense as when we first got her. Shay does love to go for car rides and would love to tag along with her people.
Shay is spayed, current on her vaccinations and microchipped.
