Iris's Story...
Hi, my name is Iris. I’m a 3 year old girl who was picked up as a stray in northern Alabama with my brother, Walker. We were taken to a shelter and our owner was contacted but refused to come get us. The shelter asked AGB if they could help and a nice volunteer came to get us. AGB found out I have heart worms. If I don’t get the medicine I need I could die! But my new rescue friends said they will never let that happen. They are going to get me well and help Walker and I find a new family together. I’m a sweet, loving girl and just want to find someone who will love me forever. Could that be you? If you think so, and you have room in your heart for two super lovable siblings, please fill out an application and ask to meet Iris and Walker. PS…AGB has set up a fund to pay for my medical needs. If you could give a few dollars to help me get well I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Iris, a BIRMINGHAM Golden Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Golden Retriever for sale in BIRMINGHAM, or seeking a Golden Retriever dog from a breeder in BIRMINGHAM.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in BIRMINGHAM already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a BIRMINGHAM breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Golden Retriever breeders who help with Golden Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in BIRMINGHAM paves the way for another one to be saved.
