Facts about Ava

  • Breed: Calico
  • Color: Calico Or Dilute Calico
  • Age: Senior
  • Sex: Female
  • Hair: Short
Ava was a warehouse kitty. She lived in a manufacturing plant for many years. For many years the employees fed her and found homes for her kittens, but no one thought to ever get her spayed. Well now Ava's baby making days are over and she no longer lives in a dirty plant. Ava is feral, I've been working with her for close to a year now and we have come to a mutual understanding. When I first brought Ava home, she was pregnant, she had 4 kittens, only one survived. As it turns out Ava is FIV positive, and although not an easily transferred disease, it can affect little ones in the womb. FIV is usually transferred to other cats through serious and deep bite wounds. Ava doesn't bite, and is now spayed so the chance of her being contagious to other cats in very minimal. Ava cannot be held and gives me the touch me again and you die look when I attempt to pet her, but only her looks are aggressive. She has come a long way in the time she's been with me, and she is very happy being a housecat. FIV cats can live many many years with proper nutrition and care. Ava is spayed and is utd on her Rabies vaccination. Only homes with other FIV cats, or a limited number of cats and no small children will be considered as potential adopters.

About Cause for Paws

About Our Rescue Group...

I started with Cause4paws located in Virginia in 2010, at first I was just a foster parent and was not much more involved than that. In 2013 I moved to P.A. to be nearer to my dad. I made an appointment with the vet and asked what rescue groups were in the area, she said, "pardon?" I repeated, rescue groups, I want to foster for a rescue group. She stated that there was the local shelter, and I said no, rescue groups, and she said to the best of her knowledge, there weren't any. Because I was still working with the group in V.A I did not volunteer for the shelter, I would make trips down to V.A and take adoptable cats and kittens down there to be placed for adoption through the local Petsmart stores. It soon became apparent that this area has an overwhelming number of homeless cats and kittens, and I was doing my best and spending all of my own money when I realized, I could no longer do this by myself. I needed the help of the community. So we got Cause4paws registered in the state of P.A as a non profit charitable organization and began the process of seeking donations and supplies. It was worked out much better than I initially anticipated, but due to the huge number of stray cats and kittens out there we still have a long way to go.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We hold regular adoption events in Fredericksburg V.A at the Petsmart located in Central Park shopping center. Cats located in Pennsylvania can be viewed by appointment only.

Our Adoption Process...

We do have an application that needs to be filled out. References from vets and friends/family will be required. All members of the household must sign off on the application to show that they understand that a pet is being brought into the home. If you live in a rental home, apartment or trailer park, you will be required to have a signed document from the owners stating it is ok for you to have a pet. Adoption fees are $125.00 per cat or kitten that is already spayed and neutered and vaccinated. This helps us cover the cost of the surgery and vaccinations that have already been provided to the cat or kitten. If you live locally, a home visit will be required prior to adoption approval.
