My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Champ is a BIG fluffy boy, a senior of 16, who found himself trying to survive outside after his person died. We had a full blood panel run to make sure he is in good shape, and for a kitty of advanced years, he is in exceptionally good health! His glucose is a little bit high, so he should likely switch to an all-canned-food diet. His thyroid function is a little low (which is unusual for cats), but not low enough to concern the vet at this time. He currently needs no medications, and still plays and snuggles like a kitten!

Champ would love to be an indoor/outdoor cat; he seems like he would prefer to be the only pet in the family, but he might do OK with either a cat or a dog - he is tolerant of both, but would rather have a more low-key life without other pets sharing his sunspots and his peoples' attention. At 16, we think he deserves a chance for a loving and calm retirement home, where he can have occasional fun play sessions followed by snoozing on the sofa or bed.

Champ is most often found up high - he is definitely a "tree cat" - so would love to have some high perches, maybe even a series of trees and shelves so he can enjoy various heights from which to observe the world around him.

All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee for Champ is suggested minimum $20 (more gratefully accepted), or he is eligible for our Seniors for Seniors program - adopters over 65 can name their own adoption fee. All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts. Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to both the Seattle area and Spokane, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your donation to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!
