Sparky Joe (also known as Rusty) is an 18 month old mix of something. The vet thinks he is a rhodesian ridgeback/hound mix, but this is rescue, so we never know for sure :-) . He is about 55 lbs and a bundle of young dog energy. Rusty is 100% house trained. He is also crate trained and sleeps great through the night. He does get along well with other dogs and loves to play with them. He likes children and has grown up with children, but he is a big, bouncy boy and can knock them over, so we would suggest children over the age of 12. Rusty can play a game of fetch for as long as you will throw the ball for him! He is trained in several commands. He sits, lays down and goes to his 'place' well. He likes to walk on the leash, but does need some work in that area. Rusty has a high prey drive and will chase squirrels, cats, bunnies and therefore, MUST have a fenced in yard. He is great in the car and rides like a champ. Rusty would be great as an only dog, who gets to have playdates with another dog; dog park, doggy daycare, friends, as he truly loves to run and play with other dogs.. Or Rusty's new home could have another playful dog (probably not too small) for him to have fun with and a fenced yard. He has two best friend dogs in his foster home now...one is blind and the other is blind & deaf and they both love to play with Rusty! He would love an active person, who wants to take him places too...hiking, car rides, etc. .
Rusty is a sweet, handsome boy who needs someone who is committed to him forever and will continue to train him to be the best dog he can be. He loves to be with you and snuggle time everyday is also a must!
Young dogs of this breed mix need physical and mental exercise to keep them happy and well balanced! Rusty is a wonderful, fun and active dog! If you think you would like to bring this boy into your home and start the New Year off together, please contact us at CcrNew England@comcast.net and tell us why Rusty would be perfect for you!
