found a new home!
Plenty of my friends are looking
for one too. Find a pet to adopt.
I am already neutered, purebred, up to date with shots, good with kids, good with dogs, and good with cats.
Balto is a gorgeous, fluffy-white, 3 month old male purebred (papers available) American Eskimo puppy. His birthday was 6/26/08. He came to us from an owner that bit off more than she could chew. A single puppy will test the patience of a saint, and can be very time consuming. She got two puppies, siblings, and it was simply too much for her. That said, I have had no problem with these two puppies. I wait for them to sit, which they do. I give them equal access to my lap, which they love. I leash them on retractible leashes and walk them together, which they do as well as my adult dogs. Balto's sister, Jenna, is out on a trial adoption, so now I just have Balto. With his sister gone, I have seen a huge difference in him. He is extremely loving and follows me everywhere. He is attentive and seeks my approval constantly. Yesterday, when he was at work with me, he was across the room greeting a customer. He looked back to me, almost to say "is this okay?" He's just going to make someone a lovely constant companion.
Balto has typical puppy energy and puppy exuberance. He is doing really great on housetraining. When I put on his leash and take him out, he will go right to the grass and "circle" until he finds his spot. He knows "sit" (as you can see from the videos) and perhaps "come" and "leave it". Those commands are less certain, but exceptional for his age! He is eating well, and his stools are solid and predictable. He has moments of super excitement as well as moments of lap time. He is sleeping in his crate at night (all night, and no crying), and sometimes will go in there to relax or chew on a toy. As with any puppy, he will need continued socialization and training to help him become a well behaved and social adult dog. He will be shy around new people, as is typical of his breed. But once he knows you, all bets are off! He is afraid of the sliding doors at Petsmart, so I just carry him through. He weighs 11 pounds.
He has a full coat of soft, white fur. He got a bath on Friday, 9.26.08, and did fantastic. His eyes are bright and his ears are perky. His tail curls. He is happy to greet you, and will settle and sit if you wait a moment. He enjoys toys and likes to play tug. He is good with other dogs, but barks when play gets overwhelming. He will quiet when I say "that's enough". He is responding to "no" and is obviously very smart.
American Eskimos, "Eskies", are known for their desire to please their owners. Balto is exceptionally attentive and responds well to everyone in the family, looking to us for approval and what to do next. He goes "this way" when you tell him, and will return to you (on leash) after checking out the nearby sights and sounds. Eskies are very quick and need a fenced yard or leash. Eskies are indoor companion pets.
I believe Balto will be 25-30# as an adult. He is eating Canidae kibble. His adoption fee will be based on our expenses, which includes neuter, rabies, flea/tick preventative, worming, vaccinations, and anything else that comes up. At this time, his adoption fee is $130. There is a contract. He was neutered on Monday 9/29, and is now available. I will bring him to your home for a visit.
If you have other questions, please email me at Suzy@CompanionPetRescue.com. If you are interested in adopting Balto, please send me an email telling me about yourself and your family; tell me about other pets in your home; tell me about your pet experience; and give me your vet's contact information. I will check vet references.
