This handsome guy is none other than Harold.
Harold is an approx 5 year old beagle (or mix thereof) who came to us from a shelter in NJ.
He was adopted but returned to us when it was discovered he had heartworm, despite having tested negative for it before coming to us.
Now that we have a confirmed diagnosis of heartworm and he is back in the care of Dog Town Rescue, we will be covering the cost of the treatment and his neutering, arranged through us and/or our vet.
Harold will need a special family willing to foster him for an extended period, enter into a foster to adopt situation, or adopt him with the understanding that DTR will be taking care of the heartworm treatment through our vet.
The heartworm treatment, which can last several months, requires that dogs be kept quiet as possible, so the excitement of Dog Town is not the best environment for him to be in during that time.
Harold is very much true to his beagle nature - smart, ready to follow to his nose anywhere even if it gets him into a bit of mischief, loving to everyone. He loves other dogs, but again is not allowed to rough house with them for some time while being treated.
We will be looking for the right environment for Harold to heal and will consider both foster and adoptive situations, but want to make sure we are making a good match for him and try and minimize any stress and shuffling around for a dog who has already had lots of changes in a short time.
