W e have neighbors who are completely irresponsible and, frankly, awful. Over the few years we have been here, we have rescued 10 dogs from them and placed  them in loving homes. Most recently this sweet boy, Leo showed up on our property. They came and reclaimed him 5 times. He has now been with us for over a month. It is now clear we need to find him a forever home.

Leo is sugar sweet and LOVES hugs. He leans his big, sweet head as far into you as possible ♥

He showed up with another dog so we assume he is good with other dogs. He's smart and very good and quiet. He is also young (around 1 1/2). We have neutered him and had him tested for heartworm (negative-yay!). The one and only negative about this little smartie is he can clear 6-8 foot fences. So, he needs a home that can manage that. With that, he will be the most wonderful, loving family member.   He would also be GREAT at agility or scent work, because he's so smart and wants to please.

We believe Leo to be a Pointer/Lab mix.  AKC describes says about pointers "... in his expression are the loyalty and devotion of a true friend of man"

This is so true of Leo.

About I Once Was Lost Animal Advocacy

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a small (3 people) rescue. Our main purpose is animal advocacy. We teach pet owners about the importance of spay/neuter and proper care and love of dogs & cats. We also feed, spay/neuter community cats to help keep down the feral cat population. We are active in our community and help to get dogs off of chains and into homes where they belong. We find our rescue dogs on roadsides. Some we are able to find their homes, they were just lost. However, most were dumped and need medical & emotional care as well as spay/neuter. We take the utmost care of our rescues. Therefore, we are ALWAYS in need of donations so we can continue to stop and save these precious lives. In the past year, we have rescued and placed over 30 dogs into beautiful, loving homes.

Come Meet Our Pets...

If you see a pet listed who you would like to meet, simply fill out our online adoption application. Once approved, we can set up an appointment to meet. This is also a good time to bring other family dogs to meet their new potential best friend.

Our Adoption Process...

$150 adoption fee. Our online contract is on our website. We require references as well as a home check. We also require a meeting with existing pets in the household. We also do follow up checks to ensure the safety and happiness of our adoptees.
