Facts about Honeybun

  • Breed: American Mix
  • Color: Fawn
  • Age: Young
  • Size: Dwarf
  • Sex: Male
  • Hair: Short
Honey Bunny was born in June 2016 and he was born with 3 other siblings.
He is the sweetest bunny in the world, I promise! He loves to be sung to and his favorite song is " This little light of mine". Once I sang to him for over an hour while I cleaned his eyes from this eye infection he had and he would make little noises and he fell asleep and was so peaceful!
So since then I sing this song to him he starts closing his eyes.

He had an issue with his jaw and the teeth don't meet in the front, so he is not able to grind food as well as he would normally so the top teeth grew into the bottom gums and shut his mouth closed and he lost the ability to eat and drink water, when he finally came and asked me for help in front of my front door he seemed so skinny with a big head. I was able to catch him and take him to a rescue and they trimmed his teeth and freed his mouth and gave him an IV for an hour and then he ate his first parsley! Awww... he became my baby and I fed him as much as I could gradually to get him to gain some weight and get his health back!

I never new anything about bunnies but the love and connection I had with Honey Bunny made me realize that I had to rescue all these bunnies from the street and find them homes!

Now he is a moment away from being adopted I can feel it! He is kind and friendly and loving and a great companion! He loves kale and he is very very smart, one time somehow he broke out of the crate and he was gone, soon to come back on his own 3 days later and brought Goldie who I believe that is his girlfriend.
I think by that time he new I could give them a better life then they could ever make for themselves on the streets given that although they were born and raised so far on the street and hid themselves in people's back yards, they actually are DOMESTIC bunnies! They need to be indoors and if I didn't have my 3 dogs indoors, I would keep these 3 bunnies!

But they need to be warmer than they are and safer from coyotes and raccoons and owls and other predatory animals .

About Bunny World Foundation

About Our Rescue Group...

Background (BWF Mission & History): Bunny World Foundation (BWF) is an ALL-Volunteer, non-profit 501(c) 3 animal welfare organization founded in 2008 in Los Angeles, California. Set up to promote (Shelter) Equity and Equality for Rabbits, BWF’s mission is to combat animal cruelty, illegal animal sales, exploitation and neglect of all animals, through rescue efforts, public education, investigations, legislation, special events, and media attention.

BWF works to reduce rabbit overpopulation and to establish rabbits as companion animals that deserve the same individual rights, level of care, and opportunity for longevity as cats and dogs that live as human companions. BWF manages a complex Foster & Adoption Program that requires constant strengthening and expansion to accommodate new rescues and provide for their intensive care, medication, supplies, and spay/neuter funds. BWF has 300 volunteers/fosters and rescues 500-700 abandoned and abused domestic rabbits a year. In 2014, BWF was featured by CBS as one of the "Five Best Volunteer Opportunities for Animal Lovers in Los Angeles.”

BWF rescued over 7,500 rabbits in the City of LA, ranging from un-weaned baby bunnies from Santee Alley to adult bunnies from the over-inundated city shelters. In the past year alone (2016), BWF took in over 400 “Red” and “Blue” rabbits from the SIX City Shelters. In addition, BWF housed, provided medical care, promoted, and found permanent and loving homes for more than 700 spayed and neutered rabbits.

BWF is proud to celebrate the NINE-year voyage which begun with the fierce struggle to bring to light illegal animal sales in the LA Fashion District. In terms of global outreach, BWF grew to be the largest Rabbit Rescue & Educational Service in the world. With 150K fans on Facebook, BWF’s posts are shared by millions of BWF members worldwide.

BWF was featured multiple times in LA Times, Huffington Post, LA Business Journal, KABC News, and NBC’s EIGHT-piece Investigation by Ana Garcia Team. BWF voice was heard on KSWD/100.3FM The Sound, 89.3 KPCC, and 102.7 KIIS FM/570 KLAC AM/98.7 KYSR FM. Santee Alley Baby Bunnies *WON* the Genesis Award at the Humane Society of the United States and the Emmy Award at the 65th LA Area Emmy Awards Nominations & Winners. In 2014, BWF was featured by CBS as one of the FIVE "Best Volunteer Opportunities for Animal Lovers in Los Angeles" and made it into LA Times (April 2015). Recently (March 2016) BWF was featured on ABC7 in FABlife episode promoting “Bunnies & Tragedy of Easter!”

BWF track record of effectiveness has led to meaningful victories for animals in city legislatures. BWF received the recognition by The County of LA (Michael D. Antonovich), The California State Assembly (Cameron M. Smyth), and The City of Santa Clarita (Frank Ferry, Mayor).

Come Meet Our Pets...

BWF holds regular weekly weekend adoptions where volunteers, fosters and future parents have an opportunity to meet & greet EVERY SUNDAY 2 - 5PM at PETCO Pasadena, CA. Since ALL our bunnies are safe in loving foster homes, we cannot bring all 300+ of them each and every time, BUT if you call, fill out application, schedule an apt., and request for a special bunny to be there, we will make it happen!

We encourage you to check prior to showing up. There are times, albeit rarely, that our Adoption Event is moved to Saturday.

We are also known to make time for additional Private Adoption Events during the week too!

Finally, we have anywhere between 8 - 12 resident bunnies situated at PETCO Pasadena at all times. You're welcome to pass by. If you're lucky you'll meet one of our Volunteers.

Thank you!
