Hi - I'm Landon! I am 10 years young and have a lot of love to share. Please don't let my age scare you away from adopting me...I really hope to find a loving, forever home to call my own. I love to be petted, to look out the window, to snuggle and I love Friskies wet/canned food (I get so excited)! I have beautiful big eyes and a great purr. I also love to play with the laser pointer toy. I had a home- for 10 years. Then, when my family moved, they decided they didn't want a pet anymore and dumped me at a crowded city shelter where my time was quickly up. Thankfully, A4A stepped in to save me just in time! Now I'm fully vetted and ready for adoption. I do great with other cats. However, I do prefer a home without small children as I do not like to be chased/have my tail pulled, etc. I am very sweet and love to cuddle! And I can't wait to meet you!
NOTE: Landon has been diagnosed with IBS. IBS cannot be cured, but it can be managed and cats with IBS can live happy, healthy lives (More info on IBS: (inflammatory bowel disease). Landon is a healthy boy, however, with IBS - there will be cycles of defecating just outside of the box -(however, urination is always inside the box). IBS cannot be cured, only managed. We've had several senior cats who've come through A4A in the past who have developed IBS and it has been easily managed and the cats lived happy/healthy lives). Landon's previous vet records (when he had a family, before being surrendered to a shelter) indicate lots of blood work, health checks, stool samples, etc.-- all show that he was and is totally healthy. But the IBS did (and will) cause the issues (in cycles-- at times symptoms will not show up at all).
The best way to manage IBS-- from our past A4A experiences and after discussions with our vet - is to feed a high fiber diet (Royal Canin dry food works well, in combination with daily canned/wet food. Another thing that helps is to add approx. 1 teaspoon of pure canned pumpkin (not pumpkin pie filling) to his wet food each day. Also, keeping a puppy pad or newspaper outside of the litter box (for easy clean up when he is experiencing "cycles" of going outside of the box).
