Please contact Southern California Dachshund Relief at: Dena@SCDR.org, and not the rescue group connected to this page. The best (and preferred) method of contact for quick response is by way of e-mail. Please read dog’s entire bio before contacting rescue.

Lola is approximately 18 months old and weighs about 20 pounds. Her heritage appears to be Dachshund and Beagle. Your guess is as good as ours. Her lush coat is a rare Wild Boar coloring (tan shafts with black tips). Lola was found stray by a Good Samaritan around Thanksgiving. The lady tried for 3 weeks to find Lola’s family, but there was no response to neighborhood posters, internet flyers, Craig’s List and newspaper ads. She contacted her local animal control, and they suggested she contact our rescue group. How could we say no after that?

Lola appears to be a dachshund/beagle mix. Dachshund/beagles are “designer dogs,” and quite coveted in some circles. She has all the attributes of the dachshund, but with the taller legs of the beagle. Her pictures do not do her justice. Lola’s coloring (Wild Boar) is typical of the wirehaired dachshund, together with her long body and floppy ears you can really see the dachshund side of her. Her slightly higher ear-set and taller legs are a gift from her beagle parent.

Lola is shy when meeting new people, but warms up quickly, and she loves to cuddle up next to you or in your lap. She is fine with older children (12 and up). She is not good with cats. Lola loves going for brisk walks or out for an early morning jog. She is patient with other dogs, and is comfortable not being the center of attention. She would like to have a mellow canine companion in her new home.

Lola is house trained, and is crate trained. She prefers to sleep in the big bed with her person, but will settle for a cushy dog in the master bedroom if she has to. Do you have a home with stairs? No problem. Lola’s taller legs make stairs a non-issue.
Lola is spayed, her vaccines are up-to-date, and she’s microchipped now. In our opinion, she is a treasure. If you can provide a good home for Lola, please contact Dena at 562-694-6868 or email Dena@SCDR.org. A home check and adoption application are required.
(The adoption fee for Lola is just $200.00.)
