Spice's Story...
Little Spice is going to be a real rescue, as apposed to an adoption. She is so so very timid, and it has been a real struggle for her. She was terrified when she first got to my house, and she hide with Reilly, in the back of a crate, for the whole first month. She is now braving it alone, and coming out of the crate some, but not up to trust or making friends yet. She is going to need someone who is dedicated to working with her to get her thru this. I have had her long enough to know she has the potential. The personality is in there, and wants to come out. She is adorable, and is going to be fun, funny, and playful. She is going to think you hung the moon, once you gain her trust. But you are going to have to take that on faith because, right now, she is holding it all inside. She is a dear, sweet soul. Very quiet. I have never heard her bark, just a little 'hum' when you walk close to where she is hiding. What a joy it is going to be to watch this dog take her place as a cherished member of someones little family. She probably would not be good in a noisy home full of kids, but in a quiet, mature household, she could learn to survive the occasional visit of grandkids. She does not have an aggressive bone in her body, and gets along with other dogs, and probably cats, too. It would never occure to her that she has an option. She is only 6 yrs old, so she has a long happy life ahead of her We do not charge an adoption fee, but do ask a donation to reimburse for our medical and transport expenses. That is usually $450 for an adult dog, $650 for puppy under 1 year, and reduced amounts for senior and special needs dogs. Now that we are officially a 501c3 charity, all donations are tax deductible Each dog will be spayed/neutered, heartworm tested (negative, unless stated otherwise), treated for parasites, and up to date on shots. While we are vigilant to get everyone as healthy as possible before we send them off to start their new lives, it is to be expected that, after the stress of traveling across the country from Kansas, (where our dogs are rehabilitated), and going to a new home, they will probably need to be retreated for parasites. We want to stress that your new friend needs to be seen by your veterinarian within the first week of arrival. We absolutely guarantee a happy adoption, or you MUST return the dog and we will undo the contract. If you are not happy, the dog is not happy, and we are not happy. We are in this to make the dogs happy. You may find some of our previously adopted dogs on our 'Happy Tails' page on this website. Why Adoption is a Great Option

Spice, a Rye Cairn Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Cairn Terrier for sale in Rye, or seeking a Cairn Terrier dog from a breeder in Rye.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Rye already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Rye breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Cairn Terrier breeders who help with Cairn Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Rye paves the way for another one to be saved.
