Maddie's Story...

Maddie is a very mature girl in a young 3 yr old body. She comes from a puppy mill and has totally adjusted to her new freedom. She loves living in a house, sleeping in the big bed (on my pillow if she can) and getting hugs and belly rubs any time she wants one. And she knows how to ask for your attention! Very loving and gentle. Gets along with the other dogs, would be OK with a cat or older children. She is quiet and easy going, doesn't get excited about anything, and is almost house trained. Would be great for a senior person. Would probably do exceptionally well in a nursing home or assisted living home. All she needs is love.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Rye already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Rye breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Westie, West Highland White Terrier breeders who help with Westie, West Highland White Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Rye paves the way for another one to be saved.
