Pfeffernussen's Story...
Hi, I'm Pfeffernussen, and I'm here to add some sweetness to your holiday season! I am a gorgeous, social, fun-loving pup. I think I am 12 weeks old but maths is not my forte! I am great with kids, adults and other dogs. I enjoy playing tug of war, chasing my brother and chewing on tasty treats. I don't cry at night, and I am working really hard on getting housetrained. My foster mum says I am a bit more out-going than my twin brother Spritz (but I think I'm cuter, too!)

Pfeffer came to us along with his siblings Snickerdoodle, Sugar, Gingersnap, Putter Pecan, and Spritz, and his mom Cookie. We don't know these pups' exact ingredients, but Cookie is a friendly, medium-energy 62 pound shepherd mix. Our best guess is Pfeffer will be large when fully grown, well over 60 pounds. He currently weighs 22 pounds, and looks like he might be part Great Pyrenees with his thick, ginger and white coat. But only those willing to take pot-luck in terms of what size and breed he turns out to be, should apply!

Because he is still young, Pfefffernussen needs a family where someone is home part or all day to finish his potty-training, keep him socialized and take him to puppy school.

Come meet Pfeffer and the other Cookie pups at their current foster home, Wilmette Pet Center (625 Green Bay Rd, 847-251-6750, wilmettepetcenter.com). Although you will want to take your favorite home on the spot, please know you will have to submit an application and meet the requirements for adoption.

Pfeffernussen's adoption fee of $375 includes vet exam, distemper combo vaccination, bordetella vaccination, flea/tick preventative, heartworm preventative, routine deworming, microchip and neuter.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Pfeffernussen, a Mt. Prospect Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Great Pyrenees puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Great Pyrenees for sale in Mt. Prospect, or seeking a Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Great Pyrenees puppy from a breeder in Mt. Prospect.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Mt. Prospect already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Mt. Prospect breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Great Pyrenees breeders who help with Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Great Pyrenees rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Mt. Prospect paves the way for another one to be saved.
