My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you have specific questions you MUST email his foster mom, Marianne at lawrencemarianne@hotmail.com. Please use this email. Using any other email will just ADD a delay in you getting the information.

The following is the background on Floyd from his foster mom. This poor soul has suffered so much from other humans. I hope we can find him the right forever home. The words are direct from the foster. If you want to know more please contact Marianne at lawrencemarianne@hotmail.com

This young survivor had suffered grave injuries including two broken jaws, a broken pelvis and internal injuries. When we took him home, he had wires in his jaws, a paralyzed left rear leg and bladder incontinence. The vet said his injuries were consistent with being thrown from the window of a moving vehicle. We felt he needed a safe place to recover.

Floyd, quickly fell into the routine of our household. We have several hairy children in our home including two other canine rescues, three feline rescues and one wayward ferret (found running up our busy street in 4 degree weather two weeks after Christmas last year- we don't consider her a rescue- we kind of feel like she was just going up/down ever street looking for us until she found us ) .

As Floyd recovered, we continued to take him in for treatment. His jaw wires were removed about three weeks after he came to us. The vet felt that there was nothing else that could be done for Floyd's jaw injury, leaving him with a permanently dropped jaw and several missing teeth. He has learned to adapt his eating habits and has managed to gain three pounds in two months. The vets did several bladder tests and a bladder ultrasound that unfortunately, led to no definitive diagnosis for the frequent in-continuance. We were told the most probably cause is nerve damage caused at the time of Floyd's injury and if this is the cause, it is likely to be irreversible and permanent.

Currently, Floyd wears an in-continuance belly band whenever he's inside the house. He is able to go down four stairs at a time but is unable, due to the rear leg paralysis, to go up any stairs. Floyd often wakes up at night, just wanting to either go out or get a drink of water- we think this is behavioral and are working on it but it has been a slow-go and we want a forever-home to know that this is happening nightly. Even with all he's been through, he is ALWAYS such a happy camper and loves to be held and petted and loved on. He loves to sit on my lap but if not able, he will remain at my feet, not budging for hours at a time. He gets along well with our other two dogs, doesn't pay attention to the cats, loves the ferret and shows zero aggression except when eating from 'his' bowl.
