Chloe's Story...
Chloe was brought in by a resident and at first she didn't trust any of us and wouldn't allow us to touch her. She was crammed into a kennel that was so small she couldn't stand or turn and had to stay in a crouched laying position. The shelter Manager coaxed her out and made friends with treats and within an hour Chloe was a happy, playful dog running circles around the staff. She loves going outside in the mornings and is very playful. We think Chloe is a year- 2 years old. Dog adoption is 130.00 and includes spay/neuter, heartworm testing, age appropriate vaccines including a 3 year rabies, health exam, deworming, and microchipping. Any animal 6 months or older is considered an adult. No animals are vetted until they are adopted as we do not have a vet on staff. Once the animal is adopted we make a vet appointment, and they must go to be vetted before they can go home with an adopter. Call 985.651.7387 for more information regarding adoption.

Act quickly to adopt Chloe. Pets at this Shelter may be held for only a short time.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Chloe, a Laplace Chihuahua/Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua/Dachshund for sale in Laplace, or seeking a Chihuahua/Dachshund dog from a breeder in Laplace.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Laplace already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Laplace breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua/Dachshund breeders who help with Chihuahua/Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Laplace paves the way for another one to be saved.
