Popeye is fat and happy now, but just a couple of months ago he and his siblings were found living under a trailer in rural Arkansas -- a whole little family surviving off scraps of food being tossed at them every few days by some people who spotted them there. They were just about 10 weeks old and had no human contact when we got them, but within just a few days being in foster, Popeye was a different puppy!! It was remarkable to see what a little bit of love and affection could do for these sweet babies.

Popeye is the lover boy of the litter -- just so happy to be with you and receive all of your affection! He will jump up to give kisses and he loves all the kisses you can give back! He loves to play chase with his brother in the yard, running around like a little lunatic in the throes of the "puppy crazies". He also loves to follow the foster's daughter into her play tunnel just to hideout with her. "Hide and Seek" is a game Popeye enjoys . . . especially under the couch. (If only he knew his wagging tail gives him away every time!!!)

Because of his unfortunate beginnings, Popeye will still shy from strangers and moving cars, so his foster family is working on this during their daily walks. When he first arrived he wouldn’t even walk to the end of the driveway, he was so scared, but now he walks around the neighborhood only stopping for passing cars. He also has an eye condition called microopthalmia, an underdeveloped eye. He has had the proper corrective procedure but he does not have sight in that eye. Due to these vision issues he can be startled if approached from his blind side. Despite that, Popeye has grown accustomed to the young children in his foster home who often whiz around him.

Popeye is about 4 months old, he weighs a bit more than 20 pounds and his breed mix is just a guess. We can't guarantee he's going to love spinach, but we are 100% positive he's going to love you!! If you have room in your heart and home for Popeye, please visit www.pinkshelter.org for more information about the adoption process or click here for our online application. Full vetting, microchip and neuter included in his $400 adoption fee. Transport fee has been sponsored.IF YOU HAVE AOL or YAHOO PLEASE CHECK YOUR SPAM FILE FOR OUR RESPONSE
