Facts about Shadow - ON HOLD - NO MORE APPLICATIONS!

  • Breed: Siberian Husky
  • Color: Unknown
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
  • Sex: Female

This pretty, bi-eyed, parti-eyed husky girl is Shadow!  She is 6-7 years old.  Her owner had passed away and his family turned her into a kill shelter in NC. Shadow is current on her vaccines, healthy and spayed. She is crate trained & housebroken.  Shadow tolerates other dogs, but would prefer to be in a household where she can be the only dog or have a laid back dog to accompany her.  She is NOT cat friendly. She would be a great dog for someone looking for a companion.  She is a snuggly girl with a very comical personality. Her facial expressions are priceless & she loves to talk to you.  She really needs a securely fenced in backyard because she loves getting out to play with her people.  She spends most of her days laying on the couch relaxing after her playtime.  That’s some kind of life! Surely someone out there wants to adopt a beautiful husky girl that will be relaxed and adore you forever!!  Shadow is in a foster home in NC and can be transported to either MD or NJ for an approved adopter.

Update on Shadow 6/5/17:  Let's chat about shadow our sweet old lady has so much attitude, but is still so sweet. The last 2 years have been pretty tough on Shadow, she lost her daddy (he passed away) that adored her for the first 6.5 years of her life, then his kids turned around & surrendered her to the shelter. I promise you would never know this about her without me telling you, she is so spunky & so fun. She loves getting out & running, but also loves snuggling on the couch being lazy. Her personality is so fun, her leash manners are so perfect, & while she is not a huge fan of other animals, I think one really tolerant laid back male dog may be okay. Absolutely no small animals or cats. She is completely housebroken & crate trained & is extremely food motivated, which makes for very easy continued training. She does know basic commands, & really just lives for making her humans smile & laugh...
She needs her home.... is it yours?!?!

Update on Shadow 6/14/17:

~~It's the little things in life❤❤ That's Shadow's motto. She is probably one of the happiest dogs I've ever met.  She may be older, but she is amazing. She literally loves when you smile & laugh at her - she loves to play - she loves to go on adventures. She’s housebroken, crate trained, can be vocal but not overly. She is spayed, utd on all vaccines, hw negative & has been kept current on nexgard & hg plus.
I don't understand why nobody wants to give her a chance. She prefers a laid back male dog (or two) to females & high strung dogs. She has the stereotypical husky prey drive, so no small animals or cats. She prefers older children, probably because she is older & does not want to be crawled on, have her ears messed with or have her tail pulled, & who can blame her there?  She has impeccable leash manners, therefore a fenced in yard is not required, so long as she gets the proper mental & physical exercise & stimulation. She loves going out & meeting new people, seeing new places. That's what life is about. She loves playing in the water & attacking the water coming out of the hose

To know shadow is to adore her, with her quirky head tilt & ridiculously adorable smile

~~The Last Resort is a foster based rescue. Our dogs are in our foster homes all up and down the east coast. We do not have a facility in which you can visit. We find this a huge benefit because we learn our dogs and are able to educate our adopters on what it’s like to have them live in your home. Part of our process, once pre-approved, is to speak with the foster for the dog you’re interested in. If you’re still interested in adopting from our rescue the first step is to complete our adoption application online at

We rescue dogs from high kill shelters usually in the south because they euthanize via barbaric methods like gas chamber, electrocution, etc.
