My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Once upon a time, down in Amish country, there were three beautiful beagles, which were suddenly of no use to the Amish puppy mill owner. Before evil set in, a wonderful rescue talked to the Amish man and he agreed to hand over the three “useless” beagles to a nice lady from the rescue. She promised the nervous little ones that they were going to a better life. Two little girls and Nemo, each, went to a foster home to start the good life that they deserved.

Nemo, though a bit timid and unsure of new people and new noises, is a tail-wagging, happy and sweet, two year old pup. He met up with three foster siblings with no fear (one even weighed 130 lbs!). He followed their lead and learned to go outdoors to go potty, take wonderful walks, run free and happy in the backyard and even eagerly walk up to foster mom and dad for gently pets and cuddles. He likes his crate, in fact, it was his safe zone when he first came to his foster home and wasn’t sure if he should trust the humans there. Now, he just goes in it when foster parents aren’t home, and at night, to sleep. Though a slow eater, he got use to two meals a day and enjoyed treats whenever they were handed out. He also discovered toys and soon learned that squeaky ones were not scary! Within two weeks he came out of his somewhat fearful shell and started acting like a happy go lucky pup.

Nemo follows his nose in the backyard and on walks, with his tail wagging, but listens well when called. He responds best with positive encouragement and affirmation when he’s being a good boy. Just a handclap or clearing of the throat will normally stop a negative behavior, like licking his neuter sutures! He’s a pleaser, and just wants to be loved. Nemo would do best in a home with another dog, whom he may even cuddle with! He would also LOVE a fenced in yard, as his early life probably had him caged most of the time. Everyone who meets Nemo thinks he’s the most adorable little 23lb beagle ever….and he is!!

Like “Nemo” in the movie, this Nemo is a brave little guy, who’s now appreciating and depending on help from friends to keep him safe and show him the ropes of a good life. Wouldn’t you love to make Nemo a part of your family? “Finding Nemo” a perfect forever home is what this boy deserves.
