My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

HOOVER: 8 yr old male neutered lab/boxer mix 72 lbs

Hoover was picked up as a stray in Napa; no one came looking for this very “jolly fellow!” He became a shelter favorite; he is happy to play with other dogs, loves to play fetch, or will hang for some pets and treats. Hoover does know some basic commands, will work for treats. He does want to pull when out for a walk, with some reminders to heal and the use of a Martingale collar he fell into place pretty well.

Did we mention he loves to play fetch? He will drop it after a little encouragement to do so. He is an active boy; he is a young eight yrs, with proper exercise, physical and mental he is going to be someone’s special boy.

When we picked him up from the shelter, he was ready to jump in the car. He rode nicely in the back, sitting and looking out the window. We feel he would be fine with older children since he is such a playful, strong boy. We are not sure how he will do with cats. He is housetrained.

We have Hoover in a foster home and he is doing GREAT! From the foster home:

Hoover is doing great! He gets along well with two German Shepherds in the home. Hoover is a dog that wants to please his pack and he is very treat motivated. He loves to play, loves to play fetch and tug of war. He loves his toys and you can take the toys away from him with no issues. He has a VERY SWEET demeanor and loves to hang out with his foster family. He loves people and is GREAT on hikes. He does not show any aggression; even to dogs that growl at him. (He is a very submissive dog.) He is a wonderful; stable boy who is ready for his forever home!

Hoover is neutered, up to date on all his shots, heartworm negative. He is located in Castro Valley.

If you are looking for a sweet boy, please email Rescue Rep Liz at liz@jobshopsf.com or call 415-613-6374.

(Please keep in mind we are all volunteers, most of us work full time and we all have personal lives. I do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient and I will be back in touch with you. When the dogs are in foster homes then it may take longer as we need to touch base with the fosters for updates on the dogs. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week and we do not have a facility that we keep the dogs housed in. They are scattered all over the Bay Area.)
