Sampson's Info...

I am already neutered, housetrained, in need of an experienced adopter, up to date with shots, good with kids, good with dogs, and not good with cats.

Sampson's Story...
Sampson came into dachshund rescue after being pulled from a high kill shelter where he was not eligible for the adoption floor because he was terrified alongside what is believed to be his mom, an American Bulldog/hound mix. They were surrendered by owners who 'could no longer keep them' but it was obvious that 'keeping them' was just barely what they had been doing. Delilah's teeth were worn to the gum line and Sampson had obvious signs of physical abuse. We rescued Delilah as well -- because we couldn't take one and not the other. Sampson is a 3-4 year old black dachshund mix. To say

Sampson loves toys is an understatement -- this boy adores his toys and every opportunity he makes a bed of toys to lay on. Sampson is very sweet to the 2 human kids in his home. He is great with other dogs and is house trained and crate trained. Sampson walks well on a leash and loves to get belly rubs. Sampson is timid when first meeting people and he will bark at new people. Once he sees Delilah or another dog in his foster home greet them (and get attention) he quickly follows suit. Sampson is not good with cats. Sampson is seeking a forever home either with or without his momma, Delilah. While they do well together, they do not have to be placed together and he would do just fine as long as he has another dog friend in his new home. We pulled both to be able to observe if they were truly bonded or were just super sad being in the shelter. After 3 months of observation we truly feel that this pair is delighted to just be off the chains and in a warm home -- and they would thrive in a loving home regardless if they go together!
