A Little Bit About Me

Sweet, shy Althea came to us as a stray, and she is not feeling very confident right now. She will snuggle deep into your arms, curl up, and sometimes hide her head in the crook of your arm. We know there's a sweet cat there just waiting to respond with purrs as soon as she feels secure enough!

She should do well in most any household--with adults of any age or a family with polite children (ages 10 and above). With a shy cat, it's an especially good idea to establish a consistent pattern with her. Approach her calmly, offer her reassuring words and gentle pets. These will go a long way toward adding to her sense of security.

Cats are creatures of habit, and Althea is no exception. She will soon begin to look forward to the time she spends with you, and, before you know it, she will coming toward you to solicit pets and respond with affection!

Althea's lovely white face makes her a sun-risk,. So, for her on-going health and protection, she will need to be an indoor-only cat.

As she gains confidence, you might want to try engaging her with a wand teaser toy. Interactive play is a good way to bond with a new pet. She also enjoys being groomed, which is another good way to bond with her.

Your patience and understanding now will be amply rewarded with Althea's loving companionship for many years to come.

a lovely and sweet companion.

About North Bay Canine Rescue & Placement

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a group of people dedicated to rescuing dogs from crisis situations, some of which include euthanasia by animal shelters, neglect and other forms of abuse, or "free to a good home" ads, which result in dogs being bounced from one home to another, or being acquired by animal brokers ("bunchers") and sold to research laboratories where they are used for testing then discarded ("cruelty industries").

NBCR&P works primarily with 5 herding breeds, and herding breed mixes. On occasion, NBCR&P also rescues and places other breeds. We foster our dogs in a home environment, rather than a kennel, if at all possible. We take pride in our promise that at any time and for any reason in the dog's life, if the need arises, he or she has a safe place with us ("return to rescue" policy).
