Sheena (a.k.a. Bellissima) was brought to the shelter as a stray. She had significant fur loss in her hind quarters and nasty looking red blotches all over her body. Her toe nails were quite long - clearly she had be neglected. She was VERY TIMID. The shelter treated her skin issues with antibiotics and regular baths with medicated shampoo. Fur has started to grow back, but she will probably always have some hair loss.
She was in the shelter for over 2 and a half months. She just hung out in the back of her kennel, showing no signs of hope or initiative (the saddest eyes). Because she appears so hopeless and miserable the shelter decided that the humane thing to do was to euthanize her. Initially, we sort of concurred, but we through caution to the wind and pulled her into foster care. She must have figured out that she was getting a second chance, because her demeanor changed - she sought out attention, her tail wagged more often, etc.
She is still a little shy, but when she gets comfortable in an environment she wants attention. She is great on a leash and should be a cuddler. No small dogs or cats. Older kids are fine.
