Facts about Evie

  • Breed: Domestic Shorthair
  • Color: Black (Mostly)
  • Age: Adult
  • Sex: Female
  • Hair: Short
Evie came to her foster mom from Barrow County Animal Control with a litter of six kittens. She was a wonderful mother and continues to look after the youngsters who have not been adopted yet, which is unusual for a mother cat. She is quite the snuggle bug and LOVES to give head bonks. While Evie would do fine in a home with other cats and dogs, she would probably enjoy getting to be the star of the show (finally). Evie is currently being fostered in Athens, Georgia.

Adoption Application - http://fs17.formsite.com/cofas/catform/

All of our cats and kittens are fostered in homes so we know their personalities. They are spayed or neutered, tested for FIV and FeLV, up to date on shots, microchipped, de-wormed, and on flea preventative. Our goal is to match our fosters with the best home possible.

The adoption fees for our felines are as follows: $100 for kittens under 6 months (or 2 for $170); $85 for adult cats (or 2 for $150); and $50 each for our special seniors/FIV+ kitties. Please email cofaspets@gmail.com for more information.

Not yet ready to adopt? You can sponsor a pet now to help pay for medical expenses, special diets, toys and treats, emergency medical care, etc. Our adoption fee rarely covers our expenses, so any size donation is appreciated! You can donate by check or Paypal by visiting our website at www.cofas.org/donateathenscats

About Circle of Friends - Athens, GA

About Our Rescue Group...

The Circle Begins

Circle of Friends Animal Society was founded in January of 2007 by eight friends with a combined eighty years of experience in animal welfare. They had worked in many organizations over the years and wanted to use their knowledge and skills, add all the best practices and most innovative ideas they had discovered, and follow a different path than a typical humane society. They set out to create an organization that would address the multiple concerns of animal welfare with positive, humane solutions.

Our Philosophy

Circle of Friends believes that animals deserve kindness and that being kind to animals brings forth our best human qualities and creates a more compassionate society. We believe that every life is precious and do not put a price tag on that life. If an animal needs an investment of time, money, and effort to have a chance at a happy life, we will not turn that animal away. We believe that educating pet owners and providing services to help them is key to creating a community in which animals are valued and treated with compassion. We do not limit ourselves to helping dogs and cats and will assist any animal, of any species, to the best of our capabilities.

Our Adoption Process...

After we receive your application we will review it and discuss it with you. We talk with you about the animal’s energy level, temperament, individual requirements. We also talk about your living situation, expectations, and what you are looking for in a pet. We reserve the right to require a home visit before going ahead with any adoption.

Adoption fees are $85 for cats. They are all spayed or neutered, UTD on shots, tested/treated for heartworm or FeLV/FIV, de-wormed and on flea prevention.

Once the paperwork has been completed and the animal is considered “ready to go,” you may take him or her home with you! We love to hear about former COFAS animals who have found their forever homes - so do keep in touch!

Please note: Our animals are spayed or neutered once they are considered of age for the procedure. In very, very rare cases we will give the adopter a certificate for the procedure to be done at a later date by our approved veterinarian.

Also, from time to time we will have cats at adoption events or listed online that are not considered ready for adoption. They may need medical procedures or additional behavioral training before they are free to go. We feel that in these cases it is beneficial for the animals - they are able to get exposure to potential adopters as well as the socialization experiences that come with meeting lots of people and animals. If you meet a cat at our adoption events but he is not ready to leave our care quite yet, you are welcome to put an application in on him. However, our applications are not considered first-come first-serve; we want the animal to go to the most appropriately matched home as possible. This is not only for the animal’s sake, but to make sure his or her new human family is happy, too!
