My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mercedes is a young female adult English Bulldog that was taken from a breeding mill/house situation. In the first years of her life she has had very little positive human contact and zero time in a home. She and several other English Bulldogs were kept in crates outside in all types of weather and if it got really bad they were crated in a garage. This has left her and the others emotionally stunted. Being in the foster homes everything is new to them like there were tiny puppies seeing a kind world for the first time. Tables, chairs, tv’s, hair dryers, microwaves, this is all new to them. She came to ATTR terribly overweight at 65.5 LB. Because of this she has a lot of issues with her legs, hips and elbows that can barely support her. She has a probable partial ACL tear in her left rear knee, luxating patellas in both rear legs, possible hip & elbow dysplasia. We have her on anti-inflammatory & pain medication and she is now able to walk. She could not when we first got her. We are going to work on getting weight off of her over the next few months and then redo xrays to see what is needed to make her walk pain free. We have her on a combination raw and dehydrated food to get the weight off as quickly as possible and will accept donations of these types of foods for her. She has not been spayed yet. She is in a home with other dogs but none of the English Bulldogs that she has been with. She has not been spayed yet as we fear she will not survive the surgery and recovery at this point. We are looking to get her into some water therapy soon also.
We are looking for a home with English Bulldog experience and other dogs for Mercedes. A quiet, patient home that is aware of English Bulldog ailments and are financially able to care for them is what we are looking for. Between specialized food and medical needs their monthly care could be at least $150 a month or likely more. Mercedes actually does well with people in general. They all will be adopted into homes with other dogs as this will be of most comfort to them. Fill out an application and we will be contacting people that have filled them out after the holidays.
ATTR has $1750+ in vet bills so far and any help would be appreciated. You can donate on their UCaring links at https://www.youcaring.com/motomotoagnessgeorgia-708373
