When Jackson first came to the shelter with the group of Los Alamos dogs, he was very unsettled. He is getting better but still has a way to go. He would love to be in a foster home or adopted with another dog and someone that will show him lots of love. His best home would be a quiet one with another friendly dog where he can get lots of love and be given some time to get comfortable. He walks nicely on a leash and has a nice time exploring the play yard. With some of the volunteers, he now readily accepts affection and wants hugs and kisses. What a sweetheart. Would you consider opening up your home and your heart to helping Jackson find his confidence? There is nothing better than seeing a dog come out of their shell and seeing their personality shine through. This 2 year old has been at the shelter since November 9, 2016. JACKSON - ID#A408600.

About Santa Barbara County Animal Services - Santa Maria

About Our Shelter...

Volunteers needed now. Are you an animal lover, do you have a couple of hours each week to volunteer? Many opportunities available. Work with dogs, cats, bunnies, office work, fostering and more. For more details on volunteering contact Stacy Silva at (805) 934-6981 at The Santa Maria Animal Center.

We care for stray and homeless animals, including cats, kittens, dogs, puppies, rabbits and other animals such as chickens, guinea pigs or iguanas. We always hope the family will come to reclaim their lost pet, but if not, we work to find a loving new family for them.

We ensure that dogs are current on their rabies vaccination and license.

At Animal Services, our goal is to ensure that all the animals in our County have a safe place to live. We work hard to find loving homes for the many dogs, cats, rabbits and other animals that come into our care. Together, with community partners and concerned citizens, we are making sure that all these animals have a "Forever Home!"
