Champ's Story...
Meet Champ the stunning Akita. The Rescue Project found him almost two weeks ago. His ears were frost bitten and he was dangerously underweight. He had no microchip, no tags, and no one has attempted to claim him. He has had vaccines and unfortunately he did test positive for heartworms. Due to his lack of socialization and history of lack of food and resources, he is reactive to other animals. We need a home for Champ with no dogs and no cats and will continue to work with him in addition to treating him for his heartworms and getting him on the road to good health. It is common for dogs of his breed to have strong prey drive. He loves people of all ages just not animals. He's about 2 years old, loves to play, run, and of course visit his local McDonald's.

Email us at kcpetfinder@hotmail.com to meet Champ. His adoption fee is $175 an includes his vaccinations, neuter, microchip, and heartworm treatment.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Champ, a Overland Park Akita dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Akita for sale in Overland Park, or seeking a Akita dog from a breeder in Overland Park.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Overland Park already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Overland Park breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Akita breeders who help with Akita rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Overland Park paves the way for another one to be saved.
