The first thing we want to note about our awesome little girl is that she is deaf and would need to be adopted by a family who understands this and is willing to work with her “otherness”.
Princess Sparkle’s addition to our rescue seems a bit like fate. We were at the shelter picking up a different dog when her former owner brought her in to surrender her back to the shelter. He told the shelter staff his wife “had the audacity” to adopt her without his permission and he was not allowing her to keep her. One look at this sweet little girl, standing on her hind legs, begging to be loved, and we told the shelter to just put her in the car!
Sparkle is a 2 year old Bull Terrier / Staffie Mix. She is a pocket dog, weighing in at just 35 pound of squatty love. Despite her small stature, she is an active girl who would be best suited for an active family lifestyle. With proper conditioning, she would make a great running, hiking, and adventuring buddy.
Sparkle currently lives with other dogs – ranging from an 8-pound chi to an 80-pound American Bulldog. She does great with all dogs, but does not have much understanding of personal space, so she would likely not be well suited for a family with a dominant dog. She has not been tested with kitties. She is a sweet girl and would do great in a family with kids who know how to love and respect a dog.
Sparkle should be adopted by a family who understands that she will take time and patience as she acclimates into her new life. She may have accidents, chew on things she is not supposed to, and bark in her kennel. It can take dogs a few weeks to properly acclimate to their new lives, so she is seeking a family that can give her this time and work with her on becoming an even more awesome dog than she already is. Sparkle should be adopted by a family who plans to keep her indoors as part of a family - we do not adopt dogs into situations in which they will be left outside for extended periods of time unattended (for example, the entire work day).
Sparkle is house and kennel trained and walks well on her leash. She also looks super cute in a sweater and will your best friend if you give her the opportunity. She is working on her kennel anxiety, but is learning quickly that her kennel is her safe space and not a punishment. She is doing well on her house training and is loving life in her foster home.
Sparkle is fully vetted and healthy (shots, spayed, microchipped, dewormed, and heartworm negative). She is healthy and has no known health/allergy concerns.
The first step in our adoption process is to fill out an application which can be found on our website www.reggiesfriends.org. If you hover over the “adoptables” tab, the application will appear for you.
Our team processes applications within 5 business days of receipt and we can usually have adoptions finalized within 7-10 days. Adopters should be in a position to pay the adoption fee and take possession of the dog within 14 days of application.
