GUAPO is one handsome guy. He is a three year old, 22 pound cockapoo who had to be surrendered by his owners suddenly. He lived with another dog and with children and his friendliness and comfort with people and dogs is evident. He was only recently neutered. He will be a great dog for the right home. But that 'right home' is the big issue. Guano was never trained properly, and while he has some good manners - for example he can settle down when crated - he has never been taught not to jump up, or nip at shirts and hands, and he is like a fur ball on speed!

When a dog isn't given the right guidance when younger, these behaviors can be hard to modify, but with a committed owner who is willing to keep to a training regimen, this beautiful dog will turn out well!!

We will not adopt him to a home with small children as his mouthiness can cause problems and he is not good with cats.

But if you love this breed, and have the time and enthusiasm to help Guapo become his better self....please get in touch.

We do NOT (except in unusual circumstances) adopt beyond a 50 mile radius from the East Bay, so that we can adequately do a home check and follow up.

About PAW FUND

About Our Rescue Group...

Our adoption program is just one of the services we offer our community. We believe in prevention so we run monthly Free Vaccine Clinics for the residents of Alameda and Contra Costa Counties, as well as funding low cost and free spay and neuter surgeries to low income and homeless community members. Our adoptable pets come from two sources - directly from the community as owner surrenders, or from our local partner municipal shelters.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our pets are in foster homes in the Bay Area. We can usually arrange a meet and greet within a day or two.

We host adoption events outside the Berkeley Animal Care Services shelter (one of our close partner organizations) or at the store HOLISTIC HOUND in Berkeley, or the GEORGE store in Larkspur Landing, in Marin. But these are not on a regular schedule as we do a lot of outreach work in our community and our weekends are sometimes taken up with those events. Please check our Facebook Page for details of events, or email us.

Our Adoption Process...

Our fee is $200 for pups or dogs and $100 for kittens or cats.

We ask you to complete an adoption application which is not available online yet, but can be emailed to you. We try to have adoptions which really meet the needs of the individual pet, we encourage multi pet households as most dogs and many cats are very social and need each other. We need to feel that this is a good fit for everyone, and we are as honest as we can be about the good and not so good points of our adoptable pets. We want it to work!
