Meet Miss Brooklyn!

This young girl is the sweetest pit bull-mix puppy you'll ever meet! She is 8 months old and came to us via owner-surrender. She had never seen a vet, was under-trained and possibly over-coddled, which left her with a lack of basic training, lack of confidence, and very loving, but clingy.

Despite her lack of veterinary care, we're happy to report Brooklyn is healthy, heart-worm negative and now fully vetted, thanks to Cody's Friends: shots, spay, and chipping - done!
And can I brag on this girl a little bit? She was reported as difficult to get into or keep in a crate...after two days of working with her, she now voluntarily crates up when asked, has never escaped her crate here, and even sits patiently in an open crate to wait for her good-night treat! She is doing well on potty-training and has had zero accidents in the house or crate. With some redirection and correction, she has learned to sit for petting, scratches and affection, rather than jump on her foster; she gets it completely right about half the time, regresses about 25% of the time for a close-up hug, and the other 25% you can actually see her start to jump and correct herself and choose to sit instead!!! So proud of her progress! She and her foster are working on establishing good boundaries and improving her self-confidence. And next, we tackle the leash!
Brooklyn is the biggest snuggler ever, but we're also building her ability to spend time alone quietly and/or just hanging out. These are big changes and a lot for a six month old to (re)learn, so Brooklyn will benefit greatly from a home with experience in establishing and maintaining structure and training (or willing to learn!), to help her become the great dog she's meant to be. And Brooklyn will absolutely be worth the investment...she is very sweet and loving, smart and curious, gets along with other dogs, has lived with and loved children and in only one week, is improving by leaps and bounds and has already made our "most-improved" list!

About Cody's Friends Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

About us: Cody was the first pet I owned as an adult. He was a Shih Tzu that I bought unknowingly, from a Puppy Mill. He fought for his life and barely survived, suffering for the first few months of his life. From then on I was stirred by a ferocious passion to save as many dogs as I could through networking with other rescue groups and saving the ones I could off of cold streets and unwanted in shelters. Cody did not live a very long life due to a weakened body, but I was able to love on him for eight good years! He will always be loved and forever remembered. With over 400 dogs rescued so far, we ARE making a difference!!
Thank you for visiting and considering a rescue........................

Our Adoption Process...

Thank you for adopting and not buying!!! Every week hundreds of highly adoptabledogs are put to death by local shelters. Most people would be amazed at the purebred and beautiful dogs available, if they walked into their neighborhood shelter.

Rescue organizations, like mine, work hard to save as many as we possibly can but is a never ending process with breeders and Puppy Mills selling unhealthy animals to the public. If you EVER saw a puppy mill you would NEVER buy again!

All of my dogs are neutered or spayed, vet checked, completely vaccinated, wormed, groomed and checked for heart worms. They are all are current on Heart worm medicine, flea, and tick medications. Upon request, they are all microchipped as well.

Adoption fee is $200 to $250 (older "friends' can be less, please inquire. Puppies are $300 - Besides fully vetting all dogs, some of of the dogs I rescue, 1 in 5 I rescue have heart worms which is very expensive to treat. I also take in dogs who need surgeries and are close to death.
** Please note that I do not usually adopt out my dogs with children under four years of age.
