Shorty here and my greatest wish for the new year is to find a family who will love me as much when I am old and grey as they do on the day that they take me home. Please understand that puppies don’t speak your language –we have to learn what you are asking of us and that requires patience and consistency from you. You may have your good times and your rough times with me – some days will be frustrating and I will require your undivided attention. But that’s what you signed up for when you picked out this puppy (me) with the waggly tail and boundless energy. My first home gave up on me because I barked too much; so my next family must not live in an apartment or condo. Since I’m less than six months old, I’ll need a family who is not gone all day. Toilet training is a work in progress but I am getting the hang of it – humans seem to be so happy when I go outside and I’m all about making my human happy. You must be aware that Dachshunds are notoriously difficult to toilet train; we hate going out on rainy or cold days. I enjoy going for walks and I should go out for a few every day; I have been practicing walking on leash and I think that with a little more practice, I will have it down pat. Much of my day revolves around play; so let’s go on a shopping spree for some balls, nylabones, Kongs, and don’t forget the squeaky toys! Did I mention that I like to burrow under covers or pillows? If you enjoy having a dog sleep with you under the covers, I will gladly oblige. If you are wondering if I like cats – I have met a few and find them to be interesting creatures. I can’t promise that I will not chase them now and again. Well, now that I’ve told you all about me; now you can fill in the Adoption Form and tell me your story. You may just be the perfect home for me!
