Shera's Info...

I am already spayed, in need of an experienced adopter, up to date with shots, and good with dogs.

Shera's Story...
Shera came to our shelter from Macon, Georgia. She and her puppies were seized by animal control as part of a cruelty investigation. Shera was emaciated, heartworm positive, covered in mange, and living in squalor when rescued. Her previous owner was arrested and is serving time in prison. Shera's puppies have found forever homes and now it is her turn.

Shera is a mellow, quiet girl and gets along well with other dogs. She is about 4-5 years old and weighs about 40 lbs. Shera is frightened by most men, but we are working with her and she has made vast improvements. Shera would be best suited for an adult home with Chow or like breed experience. Once you win her over, she will be your best friend for life.

Shera is spayed and vaccinated for Rabies, Distemper, Bordetella, and Lyme. She tested positive for heartworm and ehrlichia (a tick borne disease) when first rescued, but has been treated by our veterinarian for both. She is current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention too. She is also microchipped with a lifetime registration.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Shera, a North Haven Chow Chow dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chow Chow for sale in North Haven, or seeking a Chow Chow dog from a breeder in North Haven.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in North Haven already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a North Haven breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chow Chow breeders who help with Chow Chow rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in North Haven paves the way for another one to be saved.
